Written Paper Written Examination of up to 2 hours 5.2. Research Project 1. A Report of up to 5,000 words 2. An oral examination , typically of 30 minutes 6. Requirement to be completed to permit entry to the examination: Successful completion of Finals Part 1 examination and satisfactory progress in number of weeks of EMS completed in order to sit Part III.7. Research Project The following aspects of the project will be considered in the evaluation of the written submission: planning and execution the practical and theoretical approach, particularly in relation previously published work Presentation organisation of the report, following the required format; use of graphs, tables and diagrams Evaluation of the project a critical assessment of the study, soundness of discussion and use of statistical tests where appropriate The supervisors assessment will be marked out of 30 (and then scaled according to 8 below). The allocation will be based upon College-wide criteria for the supervisors assessment. 8. Resit As 9.1 above. 10. Consequences of Failure A candidate who fails at the first attempt will be permitted one resit opportunity. A candidate who fails the examination at the first attempt will be required to resit the failed section of the examination as described in 7 above (i.e. 7.1.Written examination or 7.2. Research Report and associated assessments). A Candidate who fails at the second attempt will be required to relinquish the course of study s/he will have the right of appeal as described in the College Regulations 11.Classification and Award of Degree A candidate who obtains an average mark of between 65 74% will be awarded Pass with Merit for the Examination A candidate who obtains an average mark of more than 75% will be awarded Pass with Distinction for the Examination In order to be awarded the BVetMed a candidate is required to pass Parts I, II and III Finals Examinations within five years of the commencement of Year 3 of the BVetMed course12. Disclosure of Marks Results will be published by candidate number..13. Absence from in course assessment Where a student has an allowable absence, s/he will be marked absent from the in course module assessment. Where a student has been absent the overall mark will be calculated pro rata from the remaining assessments. An allowable absence is one that is for a significant unforeseeable event such as illness. Any other foreseeable absence will only be considered allowable if agreed by APRICOT and this will only apply in very strictly limited circumstances. A student absent for any other reason will be awarded 0 for the assessment.  14. Late submission of work. Reports or Project work submitted after the due deadline cannot receive a mark greater than a bare pass. The only exception being if the student has been given an extension by the relevant tutor for an allowable reason.
