Form of ExaminationThe Examination for the Postgraduate Diploma in Veterinary Physiotherapy will comprise: Written papers Paper 1: Two hours duration at the end of first academic year, comprising a combination of short answer, multiple choice and long answer (essay) questions Paper 2: Three hours duration in December (second academic year) , comprising a combination of short answer, multiple choice and long answer (essay) questions In course assessment (two presentations) Clinical assessment Objective structured clinical examination (OSCE) in May (at the end of the second academic year), to assess the clinical competency of the physiotherapist in undertaking veterinary physiotherapy treatment of small and large animals. The Examination for the MSc will comprise all the above assessments, together with: Project report. A literature review of up to 5000 words and one scientific paper of up to 5000 words (excluding references) suitable for submission for publication in a quality, peer reviewed journal. Penalties for late submissionProject work submitted after the due deadline cannot receive a mark greater than a bare pass. The only exception being if the student has been given an extension by the relevant tutor for an allowable reason.25. Requirements to Pass OverallTo have achieved an average mark of 50% for the in course assessments and the written examinations and not less than 50% in the OSCE examination.To have achieved not less than 40% in either the written examination or the in-course assessment. In addition, the MSc students are expected to achieve not less than 50% for the research (project and oral examination) If a student passes the Diploma section of the course but subsequently fails their research project, they can opt to accept the award of the Postgraduate Diploma or to resubmit their project on one occasion. A second failure will result in the award of a Postgraduate Diploma.26.
